FAQs

Our classes tend to fill up very quickly (sometimes within a few minutes of going on sale!). We release tickets to new classes about once a month. Those on our e-mail list receive a sneak peek of what’s going on sale first! If you’d like to receive e-mails from Tablespoon, please click here to sign up!

If you’d like to be notified if there are open seats due to a cancellation, please sign up for our  last minute cancellation list!

Workshop Style (hands-on)

Most of our publicly offered classes fall into this category. You’ll follow along with our chef instructor to make a menu from start to finish. Most of our recipes are designed to serve 2, so if you purchase 2 tickets, you’ll work at a station together. Each station has pre-measured ingredients and equipment as well as a video monitor so you can see our chef-instructor. When all the cooking is finished, you’ll sit down in our dining and bar area to enjoy what you’ve made. If you’re in a baking/pastry class (for example, a pie or donuts) you’ll leave with a finished product to take home!

Most Workshop Style classes last about 2-3 hours and cost $110 per person (+ fees). Your ticket includes 2 drinks from our bar (beer & wine). Additional drinks will be available for purchase. Each person attending must have their own ticket. Please check individual ticketing pages for class-specific details.

Happy Hour Style (hands-on)

This class style is similar to our Workshop Style setup, but with an abbreviated schedule. Each class will last just over an hour long. You’ll follow along with our chef instructor to make a cocktail and appetizer. Each station has pre-measured ingredients and equipment as well as a video monitor so you can see our chef-instructor.

Most Happy Hour Style classes are $55 per person (+ fees) and include the cocktail and appetizer you make in class. Additional drinks will be available for purchase. Each person attending must have their own ticket. Please check individual ticketing pages for class-specific details.

We love to encourage young cooks! Kids aged 12+ are welcome to join an adult in a regularly scheduled class, but they must be accompanied by an adult (18+) who is also attending and participating in class. Each person attending must have their own ticket.

At the moment, we do not regularly offer cooking classes designed specifically for children/teens. We may occasionally offer kids + family classes, but we do not have these on our schedule very often.

To get updates on our class offerings, please make sure to sign up for our email list.

About Our Cooking Classes
Most of our cooking and baking classes cost ~$110 per person + tax/fees. We recommend around $120+ per person to cover all costs. We also occasionally offer happy hour or shorter format classes that run around $55 per person.

How to Sign Up
Our classes are small – typically around 12-16 guests – and fill up very quickly after going on sale. It’s important that the gift card recipient signs up for our e-mail list in order to know about new classes. Those on our email list get notified when we’re about to release tickets to new classes so they know which classes are going on sale & when.

Absolutely! Host a private cooking class with team Tablespoon and we will work with you to throw an unforgettable event. With in-person and virtual cooking classes covering a variety of fun themes, skills, and flavors, there is something for everyone in your crew or cubicle cluster. Whether you’re entertaining clients, treating your work fam to a bonding experience (that’s actually fun), or gathering friends and family to celebrate, Tablespoons private events are the perfect answer to the question, “but what should we actually do?!”

For more information and pricing, please submit an event request using the form on our Private Events page.

We have options for groups of 8-50 people. If you have a smaller group, we recommend joining us for a public class!

Can’t make it to class?

If you contact us more than 7 days before your scheduled class, we can issue you a credit worth the full value of your purchase.

If you contact us within 7 days before your scheduled class, we are not able to guarantee a credit. We understand that unexpected things come up, so we will always do our best to assist in emergency situations. However, it can be very difficult for us to sell last-minute tickets. You always have the option to give your tickets to someone you know. If you’d like to do this, please email us with the names of those attending in your place. If you can’t find anyone to take your tickets, we will also offer to reach out to our last-minute waitlist. If someone purchases your tickets, we’ll issue you credit, minus a $20 per ticket cancellation fee. If the tickets are not purchased by someone else, unfortunately we will not be able to issue a credit.

About Credits:
Tablespoon credits & gift cards do not expire. They are valid toward the purchase of tickets to a Tablespoon class, or they can be used on merchandise in our online store.

Public Classes
Each class ticket page should include information about which common dietary restrictions we are able to accommodate, so please check there before registering. Either way, we need advanced notice (2 weeks minimum) to accommodate any dietary restrictions or food allergies. If you have questions, please contact our staff via email and we’ll do our best to guide you to the right class.

Private Events
If you are planning a private event, please inform your event manager as soon as you’re aware of any dietary restrictions or food allergies in your group. We can typically be flexible and accommodate, but it varies depending on the specifics of the allergies and of which class you’ve chosen.

Catering
Please alert our staff if anyone in your group has food allergies (such as gluten, dairy, or nuts) so that we can make appropriate changes where necessary. Our cookies and snack mix may not be safe for those with certain allergies, so please let us know if someone in your group needs an allergy-friendly alternative in their boxed lunch.

Yes! At an in-person Tablespoon cooking class, you’ll learn through hands-on experience – chopping, stirring, smelling, tasting, etc.

The place to enter this is on the final step of the booking process. You’ll click where it says “click here to redeem a gift card/promo code”, and enter the code from there. If your gift card was purchased before 11/23/18 OR you don’t know your gift card code, please e-mail us ahead of the ticket release so we can assist you.
